EYC is a membership-led umbrella organization that represents and supports the interests of voluntary youth organizations and uses its collective experience to act on issues that impact on young people.
EYC's work is based on the core values of equity volunteerism, pro-activity, interdependence, quality and representation. Its work is also young person-centered, whereby EYC believes that all young people are citizens in their own right and are of equal value. EYC commits to continually and actively appraising our work alongside our core values and principles.

EYC's vision is one where all young persons are empowered to develop the skills and confidence to fully participate as active citizens in an inclusive society
EYC is committed to playing a leadership role in actively raising the profile of youth work, , and increasing the resources available to youth work.
EYC embraces the genuine challenge of being representative of voluntary youth work organizations, as defined in the Youth Work Act 2001, and will ensure that it’s Memorandum and Articles of Association reflects this commitment.
